Today, I told one of my teachers I have to attend a family member's funeral on a day she's passing a test. She straight up asked if I could reschedule it, and if not if I could just give it a miss. FML

Tell her that next time, you'll have them die at a more convenient time.

I'm so sorry for your loss. What a heartless bitch, your teacher is!

She probably thought you were making it up, since that is a common excuse. Doesn't make it any more acceptable though.

That sucks OP, when I was doing my year 12 exams I had a biology exam in the morning then had to go to my Grandpa's funeral and had to go back to do an accounting exam. I couldn't skip any as I would have failed the whole year if I had so I know exactly how hard it is :( Funnily enough I forgot my calculator for my accounting exam and had to get my boyfriend at the time to run one to me from his house as he lived a 2 minute walk away. Talk about lucky lol.

That's when you say to your teacher I'll let you call my parents and tell them that.

If I were in that situation, I'd loose it.

She may have been talking about the test?

"Well sorry ma'am, next time I'll have them die at a more convinient time for you. Are tuesdays okay?"

I've heard bosses and teachers ask if you can skip a funeral, but not reschedule. For some reason that seems really weird to me, as if you're in charge of it. Usually a jerk in authority just figures nothing else is important.

Maybe she meant reschedule a time to take the test? I've had to do that before. If not, I'm sorry OP. Either way, I'm sorry for your loss.

The teacher isn't legally allowed to hold it against you. go to the department head/lead or the Dean of students.
