Today, I took my girlfriend out for a romantic dinner, since we can't see each other this Valentine's Day. Halfway through, my aunt called, telling me my grandma had died. I had to leave because I was crying so much, leaving my girlfriend with a very pricey bill. FML

Sorry for your loss, OP. I'm sure your girlfriend understands.

When I first started dating my boyfriend, both my grandparents died within days of each other. He was there to support me, despite not knowing me too well yet, and helped me through my grief. That's the sign of a keeper.

you could have paid before you left. ydi

While the event is very traumatic, I am having a bit difficulty understanding why you didn't up and leave together. I mean in that situation, wouldn't it have made sense for her to come with you, to give you emotional support?

I'm sure she understood. Sorry for your loss, op.

just pay her back. she should understand

I'm sure she won't mind. The only issue I can see is if she didn't have enough to cover it at the time, but, if she's a good person, she'll pay if she can.
