should've turned left at Albuquerque
If you were really returning to your car from hiking shortly before you had work, then it was quite irresponsible. On the other hand, if you live far enough from your car that you have a nature trail between your home and your driveway/parking lot, then I feel a bit sorry for you. Please follow up with more details, OP.
Just like in all the movies.
Agoraphobic shut in talking, so excuse me if I am wrong, but isn't one of the first rules of hiking to stick to trails you know and not take shortcuts, specifically because they can get you lost? Also, exploring when pushed for time is irresponsible as hell, so YDI. Test shortcuts when them being detours won't make you late.
Should have just stayed lost and went camping. Tell your boss you're going off the deep end
Is your name, Helen Keller !!!
The good old nature walk.
What did we learn about shortcuts today?
is that what they call "the bush" in australia!?

Try exploring "shortcuts" when you're not pressed for time. YDI.
Don't most people have smartphones nowadays? They're great GPS's.
