Today, I used a tanning bed for the first time ever, in an attempt to get a base tan for the summer. No one bothered to warn me that you shouldn't go the full ten minutes your first time. Now my skin is as red as my hair. FML

Also, I'm NOT a natural ginger. My hair is just red.

I went tanning at the gym I just got a membership to. The lady told me to get ready and that the bed would turn on after a 3 minute delay. I didn't think to question. I also didn't think 10 minutes would be bad when I can be in the actual sun for longer with no problem. It was a mistake.

She should of done research, But they also should of told her since it's there job.

So many people advising you on researching how to use a tanning bed. Maybe some research on tanning beds and skin cancer would be more relevant.

I tried tanning for a while a couple years ago. They went into detail how I should go about warming myself up to tanning. after that didn't work out well after a few months (I don't tan very well lol) they gave me some spray tans for free. They explained that very well and I've been going back since every once in a while when I need a tan

Any tanning salon who knows their stuff, would have had you fill out a questionnaire regarding skin type, past family history of skin cancer, etc & set the timer accordingly. Blondes & redheads burn easier than other hair types/skin tones (more so for redheads). I'd ask for a manager & explain that the person who set you up for it didn't inform you about this.

interesting I was not.told that either I went for 15 minutes I hurt for a week
