Today, I was at a band concert with 500 other people. The song they were performing stopped, and I loved it so much I stood up and clapped. Everyone stared, while I slowly realized the song wasn't over. FML

no, i've been there: op was the only one who knew the song was over. the band started playing again to avoid an awkward situation when they saw that no one clapped. except one.

Don't worry I'm sure those 500 other people didn't even notice, except that they did. Sucks for you!

You were the only person out of 500 people to clap and cheer? I'm usually screaming throughout a concert so the only way that could've happened is if you were listening to an orchestra...

Well OP did say a BAND concert. I usually see that specification as a hint. I've only every been to one concert, but I've been to multiple band concerts, especially being in band myself. Yay clarinet :) I hope this helped!

Oh how musicians hate people who clap between movements

i hate people like this. i don't understand why they don't check to make sure the musicians are done before clapping. i did this once (at a conference) and i was quickly embarrassed, but accepted full responsibility for it. i was aware that i did something wrong (which i never did again) and wouldn't post something like that on FML, because it was only your fault.

well im in band and i know that its hard to tell if igs the end or not. its good that u claped anyway

It's actually really easy to tell if it's the end or not...when it's over, the conductor drops his arms, and a lot of times turns around and bows to the audience. If the conductor's arms are still up, it's not over. And no, it's not good that they clapped anyway. Generally those bits that sound like it could be over when it isn't are for effect, and people clapping during them completely ruins it.
