Today, I was at a mall. A woman stopped by me, said slowly and loudly, in Spanish "baño?" Knowing a bit of Spanish, I nodded and pointed the restrooms out for her. She then mutters about "dang Mexicans and their inability to speak English". I'm not even Latina. I'm Irish-American. FML

i know that lady was obviously racist and should have by no means said that, but i'm confused as to why this is an FML. sounds like you're racist too if you think calling someone mexican is an insult.

Sadly English is no longer the main language of the land.

Why is that sad? I find it quite useful to know more than one language....as a matter of fact in Europe it is considered quite a sign of intelligence to known more than one language.... It's comments like those that make the U.S the educational laughing stock of the world.....

Wow, that level of ignorance and stupidity is really scary. And what's even scarier is that there are lots of people out there who are just like that.

wow she's stupid and stereotypical. wrongly. America doesn't even have a national language, so how can she even complain?

HAHA WHAT A DOUCHE! This is pretty funny because she's so stupid she can't tell if someone's Hispanic. I wouldn't say FYL but it does suck, you can laugh at her more and call her a dumbass. You could turn this situation around to FHL.

you should have told that bitch (after she said that of course) that you're not even mexican and shes the dumbass broad who should ****** get her facts straight

you should have told her off

Dang racists and their inability to accept others.

Even if you WERE hispanic, she'd be wrong to assume you were Mexican. It's sad that in America, anyone with a hispanic-sounding name, or anyone who looks hispanic, is automatically assumed to be Mexican. I have a friend who is Puertorican, and so many people think she's Mexican.
