Today, I was at dinner with my boyfriend and his family. We were talking about relationships, and I commented on how online dating was the dumbest thing ever. His mom and step-dad went on to tell me how they had met through an online dating service. FML

I think online dating is kinda unsafe so I wouldn't use it.. But your choice is your choice guys! That must've been embarrassing though!

Maybe a few years ago it was sketchy, but these days online dating is.. really viable. I wouldn't use the actual dating websites but people I meet in forums or games.. I've become quite good friends with them that visit and mail stuff. :C

This. I consider dating sites to be too "forced" to really have a chance to work. If that's how some people find someone then more power to them, but it seems like too much work to make a profile in hopes of deliberately looking for someone. My most successful online relationships have come from sites and games that I enjoy a lot, that way we can have more enjoyable conversations about sites/games we both enjoy.

I don't know... I reached, 30 was single, my friends were either gay or coupled up, and consequently weren't interested in going to bars with me so I could meet women. My interests (combat sports) weren't good for meeting women socially. It seemed the logical choice for meeting someone with shared interests and mutual attraction.. Kissed a few frogs, then met my girlfriend... proposing this weekend
