Today, I was at lunch with my mom and we were talking about how to tell my brother that Santa Claus isn't real. After we finished our conversation, I heard someone crying. Little did I know, two little kids and their parents were sitting in the booth behind me. FML

Soo why are you going to tell your brother that Santa isn't real? Aren't people supposed to figure that out on their own?

Seriously though, it is not the OP's job to keep some kids from listening in on her talking about a trivial subject. Further, it's pretty cute how everyone tells OP how to handle family relationships knowing no details aside from the OP wishes to tell them Santa isn't real. Posters on this site are something else, I tell you.

Wow, why did so many people click YDI on this? So now no one can talk about the nonexistance of Santa in public without extensively checking to see if there were any kids around?

Everyone here sucks. Santa is real and that's that. This coming from a 15 year old. OP, your a bastard for doing that to a kid.

Its really no big.. i mean, you might have been more careful but as soon as they heard ur subject the parents could have moved or distracted their children..

Strange, my parents told me about Santa and the Tooth Fairy but never the Easter Bunny. I hadn't heard of it until I was about 8.

I don't understand whats so bad about not thinking santa exists... I never belived he existed no matter how hard my parents tried to convince me he did.

Not that this isn't fake like all FMLs, but meh. Too bad for them. It was an accident, the parents should've been able to cover it up easily enough. Personally though, I think believing in Santa Claus is good for kids. I'm going to do it for mine, because I know believing in something like that makes Christmas so magical. I strongly urge those who are thinking of not doing so to reconsider. I remember how things like Santa Claus made my childhood so special and vibrant. Save the truth for later.

You did nothing wrong. You were having a private conversation, and if the people next booth could hear you they should have said something about it. Personally I'm not a believer in perpetuating Santa to kids. Am I going to tell my kids its BS? Hell no. Am I going to go out of my way to keep them believing and make a big deal that no one spoils it for them? Hell no.

Santa Claus doesn't exist?? So who is going to buy my newborn baby his first Christmas gift??? Wish I was told this sooner. FML
