Today, I was at Target trying on swimsuits. I tried on a medium bottom and was so excited because it fit perfectly even though I've gained a few pounds. My self-esteem was at an all-time high until my mom told me I could never fit into a medium. I rechecked the tag. It was an extra large. FML

you should sit on your mom, that should teach her a lesson.

The size on the tag doesn't matter as long as the clothes fit well and you feel comfortable with the way you look.

Okay, I'm sick of all the nasty commenters. You don't know the people posting here and you don't know why they're fat, if they are. I eat veggies, very little carbs and sweets, I usually eat twice a day and sometimes some fruit later in the evenings if I get hungry. I've always eaten less than my friends and have been extra careful about what I eat the last year. I run and lift weights at least three times a week. I'm still overweight. I've lost a few pounds but nothing much. I don't know how do these things look in America with all that fast food, but if you aren't currently looking at a fat girl choking on a hamburger stfu because you have no idea whether are other girls willingly self destructive or not.

and to all the people who are saying the OP is a fat lard, how do you know that? I have a friend who gets large bottoms and small tops for bikinis, and she has one of the best bodies in our grade. I also have a smaller upper body and a big butt. I'm 113 pounds so I'm not "fat". but on the other hand, these FML's are getting quite ridiculous, everyone has problems with their appearance we don't need to hear any more people venting about it. ---> and Mulada, please calm down haha there's no need to get into drama on here, really who gives a damn? you'll be happier if you don't let assholes get you all worked up. just chill, please. :)

I don't see how you mistake an extra large for a medium... Unless it was a kids/juniors xl... And I don't know exactly how women's sizing works for bikini bottoms, but shouldn't they pretty much be the same size as your underwear? Obviously the fit will vary... but yeah... Shouldn't the OP have had SOME idea of her size unless she doesn't even own any underwear? Its one thing to not wear them sometimes... but to not own any or not wear them the ONE time necessary to figure out "Hey, these don't fit" seems unlikely... I think the only way this works is if the OP is a grown woman and accidentally shopping in the kids section... but then its not really an FML at all anyway... I could be wrong on the sizing though.

146, don't worry, I don't let people get to me; I just like to cause riots. I'm not some sort of internet vigilante.

haha mmk Mulada I guess that's fair.

I lolled. thanks for that. Its not hard to lose weight. So do it.

Wow apparently none of you people even know what an extra large at target is. I have really nice body, but I have a booty. I have to buy larges and extra larges all the time, yet you men would be begging for my number and you girls would be saying you wish you actually had a butt. Target bottoms run small anyways, an xl is probably more like a medium at another store. I hate when people comment without even knowing what they're talking about. And srsly? Just because she gained weight doesn't mean she's a lesser human being. You people make me sick. And I'm white, since I know many of you are assuming I'm black.

Aww, that sucks. But it IS your fault for gaining weight. Just exercise! You'll get to a medium! And P.S.~Target sells shitty stuff, so maybe the crap bathing suit you were trying on had weird sizes...?
