Today, I was at the gym with my friends when they invited me to do a few bench presses. Since I'd never done any before, I decided to start with no weights on the bar and work my way up from there. I wound up pinned beneath the bar, calling for my friend to come free me. FML

you dont deserve that bc it is my assumption that 98% of the population can lift a 45 lb barbell. 7-12 yr olds included. Spotter next time homeboy. Always when trying new exercises and eat that protein mix after workouts. Sounds like you need to gain some weight and muscle

I'm sorry, but you must be really ******* weak, dude.

i can bench 45 pounds with my penis. you fail.

epic fail. i can rep 45 pounds with my junk.

go some whey protein, pronto and quite possibly a hooker. i'm assuming your not getting any right now so i'm watching your back. you can thank me later. please correct me if i'm wrong. im kidding. try working on it though. that does seem a little bit sad.

A-a-are you serious? Please tell me this is just a poorly written joke. I'm not going to brag, even among my sparring partners (Kung Fu and Kickboxing), I'm considered, "the weak, but fast one" but I've been able to lift the bar by itself since I was TWELVE. Hell, now I can even twirl the bar on its own like a bamboo pole for kicks. I realize it's wrong to make assumptions, but it honestly just doesn't make SENSE when I hear these kinds of stories. I didn't start training until I was 13, but even as a video-game obsessed bookworm, the bar plus 10 pounds was still doable. For your sake, I honestly hope you're either 10 years old or have some strange genetic disorder that makes your muscles like mush. Other than that, there's no excuse for not being able to meet the minimum standard.

#43 Im sorry but your either fat or have been working out for a while, I know some college guys that prolly max at 110. #61 I have been working out for a yr and barely bench over my weight, im not fat either. unless someone works out often benching your own weight is nearly impossible #94 Lol exactly, real easy to brag about wut u bench over the internet. And why is everyone flipping out about a spotter, yes you should definitely have one if your going hard, but if someone asked me to spot them for the bar id laugh and say dont waste my time.

I assume you're a young kid, so I'll be sympathetic with you on this one, buddy!

You must have the triple dose of bench press killing factors: incredibly long arms, weak natural strength, and bad genes.

to everyone saying that 45 pounds can be hard, you obviously do nothing all day but sit at the computer like you are now, or you have never benched. im not trying to brag but the first time i ever lifted when i was 13 i could bench 80 and i only weighed 100. benching isnt hard unless you are extremely inactive and dont eat anything healthy
