Today, I was backing out of my snowy drive way on my way to work. I thought I hit a lump of snow. I'd run over my white cat. FML

"That's weird, I've never seen snow bleed before."

you should have kept it inside... FYL anyway

Cats are meant to roam around outside. They're miserable when they're scooped up in a house.

Not really, one of my cats is scared to go outside, and the other one won't leave the house unless it's hot outside.

Every animal is meant to roam but we don't let out dogs and birds and guinea pigs out. Why does everyone think cats HAVE to roam? It is not safe to let animals that fo not understand human machinery and other such stuff out to fend for themselves. Thats why they get run over. And just for the record, it's a myth that they're miserable if kept inside. mine are both very happy indoor cats. And as such...they will never be run over by a car.

Cats aren't meant to roam any more than other domesticated animals. I'm sure dogs would be happier running freely around the neighbourhood, but that doesn't mean owners should let them. If you care about your pet you would keep it inside where it's safe. And for the record, not all indoor cats are miserable. I've owned cats that hate being outside and the second I put them out they'd run back in. But no, obviously I'm a terrible person for keeping them 'scooped' up in the house all day.

Actually, you can let all animals out, as long as you have a fence or something around the house. And dogs are pack animals, they like to be with the rest of their pack, while cats are more solo animals by nature. They do like to roam around, but ofcourse it is always dangerous for them. I wouldn't like to let my cat out if I had a road right in front of my house, I'd just keep it in the yard with a fence around or something.

It's unfortunate, but really, why would you have an animal that you let wander outdoors in the snow? If you can't keep animals contained in your home, or at least in your yard out of harm's way, you should not have pets in the first place.

Maybe because most animals like to be outside? I know my cat gets really crazy if she can't go outside and she'll trash anything. Sure, you need to watch their safety, but it's really sad to keep them in just because it's not safe outside, you shouldn't get a pet then.
