Today, I was delivering packages to patients in the hospital for my job. My boss gave me a room to deliver to, and I drop it off as usual. But my boss gave me the wrong room number. I had to walk in, apologize, and take back balloons and a stuffed animal from a crying 6-year-old patient. FML

aww. i feel bad for both of you. :(

I would have let the kid keep the balloons. There's no way I'd be strong enough to take them back. Maybe his parents will get him something appeasing and he'll forget the whole incident.

that is ****** up. you let the kid keep the balloons and stuffed animal, and either make your boss get it, make him buy another one for the correct recipient, or you yourself buy one for the rightful person. It can't be that expensive and think about the children!

What the hell! :( Poor kid. Hope you came back later and brought her some of her own!

I would've refused to go back and retrieve them. Your boss made the mistake, so he should be the one to either eat the cost by replacing those things for the original patient, or something along those lines. Can you put in a complaint to his boss or someone above him? I know people make mistakes, but that's just cruel.

Yeah, if I was you I would have gone out and bought the poor kid some of her own.

You know, you should've just explained the situation to the original receiver. And just say that you made another person's day instead.

That's messed up. I'm sorry. I agree with #54, even though it wasn't your fault your boss was an idiot.

That's so sad! :( I feel so bad for the little kid, and for you for having to take the things back. Your boss should have just replaced the items for the real patient.
