Yeah I was thinking that for #82--or I'd have just left the stuff with the original kid and bought new ones for the intended recipient. Considering all, it'd be my good deed for the day or whatever. That seriously sucks though.

That sucks! You should have let the kid keep the stuff and just replaced the presents with your own money or told your boss the story, maybe he would have paid for. Even if he didn't, you would have made a sick kid happy even if you were slightly poorer in the end. Also, I agree with comments above, a six year old kid already has it rough, why be a jackass and teach a lesson that doesn't need to be taught already. The kid already knows life is hard, they're in the hospital, you don't just go to the hospital because of a cold. Jerks...

I think I might have talked my boss into dishing out the money for new ones. Or done it myself--I couldn't make a kid cry.

That was def not your fault if the boss gave you the wrong room number. :( If it were me, after taking the stuff back I'd have bought the kid something else that they wanted of my own accord because that sucks so bad. But then again, I'mma softie lol
