Today, I was driving home with my dad after buying a new truck. We were on the freeway and the engine wasn't revving up very much. My dad thought that something was wrong with my transmission, so he reached over to change gears. Most cars won't go into reverse at high speeds. Mine does. FML

Geez dude! 1. get a new Dad! 2. get a new truck - I presume something broke (or crashed) when Mr synapse changed gears for you? - For those asking, my take is: * the truck is (was) an auto; * it was revving low because it has a higher top gear than OP's Dad is used to (could easily be - truck is new - could have a 5 speed gearbox or Overdrive); * dipstick Dad decides truck must be in the wrong gear (FAIL - that would really only be a problem if the engine were revving too HIGH); * so dipstick Dad tries to shift to a higher gear; * instead of going from 4th to 5th, he goes from 5th to Reverse (via Neutral - I'm impressed...); * truck engine and/or gearbox puke 3 shades of brown and/or truck spins or rolls

and also if you go more than 88 mph you will travel into the past

well, if there wasn't something wrong with the transmission before there definitely is now

You didn't exercise the #1 rule for owning a truck: No one gets *in* the truck, till you know they'll *respect* the truck. What's the point of having a smaller passenger capacity if you're not going to practice selective seating?! On another note, this FML makes me miss ImaginaryFoe. *sigh* Now I have no one to say "MotherTruckers: Unite!" with me. :[

FAKE! They tried this on Mythbusters. You can't mesh the reverse gear while the car is traveling forward, especially at freeway speeds (or even half of freeway speeds).

was that an auto or manual trans on MB? autos use hydraulic clutch packs to engage the speed ranges, so if the fluid flows, it should shift

Get your dad too pay for a new transmission.

The real confusing thing, though, is at the beginning of OP's post, the vehicle is a "truck", but then is referred to as a "car" near the end. Lame sauce...OP fails at consistency lol

Unfortunately some people call their trucks cars. Same with their SUV's. OP, sounds like dumbass daddy is buying you a new transmission huh?

if you are going the right speed, who cares how "revved up" it sounds?
