Today, I was forced to spend an extra $318 for another plane ticket to Dallas. The ticket wasn't for my daughter, my mom, or my sister, but for the quarter of my butt that apparently needs its own seat. FML

well you gotta feel sorry for the person who might have been sat next to you if you hadn't bought the ticket. They would only get 3/4 of a seat for their butt otherwise :P

whoever said you deserved this is an ass hole. my moms been wavy her whole life and the doctors say it's a metabolism problem. she doesn't overeat or anything. It's bull shit that they are making u pay extra for a health problem!

YDI. It ******* sucks to sit next to an obese person on a plane; you shouldn't complain.

I blame the government. Americans are all fat because of corn. I'm not kidding- high fructose corn syrup is both habit forming and just about the worst thing you could possibly eat, and they put it in EVERYTHING. Why? Because all the farmers in Iowa grow corn; they receive plenty of government subsidies to do so. Why? Because Iowa is the site of the first presidentials caucus, which means no politician who even hopes to aspire to such a lofty office will vote against money to Iowa. It's an absurd system, and it's killing us all.

In all actuality, it is no more habit-forming than any other food that one may perceive as good. (For instance: I enjoy beef. I eat it as often as possible. There are no chemical dependencies that make me do this; I just enjoy beef. By your logic, that would classify it as habit-forming.) As far as the health concerns, high fructose corn syrup is nutritionally the same as pure cane sugar. Not the best for you, especially in high dosages. But it is by far not the worst thing you could ingest. (For instance: any of the artificial sweeteners that have become so widely popular, which have been linked to many types of cancers.) Remember, any food, any food at all, can be harmful to you when taken in massive portions. That includes Also, corn is grown in far more places here in the US than just Iowa. "Why is that," you may be wondering. Quite simply, it's because sugarcane, with the exception of Florida and Hawaii, does not grow easily in the US. As explained above, corn syrup is as close a match as possible, and it grows here very easily. That means that when we by products containing corn syrup, we are supporting the US economy. It's not some government conspiracy. It's simple economics, and it's what is best for our country.
