Today, I was getting my first tattoo done. My parents told me it was a bad idea. My friends' parents told me it was a bad idea. I told them that people get tattoos done all the time and nothing goes wrong. 50 min into the tattoo on my back, the artist says "Oh shit, shit, shit. We can fix this." FML

thats_not_good tells us more.

The tattoo is on my shoulder blade, and it's a Celtic knot that I drew up myself. The artist was filling in the shading in the knot after finishing the outline when he started filling in an area on the wrong side of the line. He ended up fixing it so the design came out symmetrical, and it looks really good. No regrets and no worries.

Yeah, bad idea... sounds like if you try it again you should do a little research to figure out the best tattoo parlor in your area...

That's one of my biggest fears for when I go get my first tattoo, even tho I've definitely done my research! But I really hate how parents always just seem to KNOW. Whenever my mom says something won't work out, I'm like '****, I need to change something, quick!'. Because not even kidding, she's right like, 80% of the time. Hope it all worked out for you tho - & I hope he fixed it!

The bad idea wasn't getting a tattoo it was not doing your research and finding a good artist before getting the tattoo( you know you have a bad artist when he says oh shit we can fix this out loud. a good one would not make the mistake in the first place and if he did he wouldnt tell you he screwed up). And you really should have finished this story. Tattoo artist usually can fix anything so it could have turned out awesome in the end and therefore this wouldn't be a fml.

I agree with everybody else, unless you do your research, YDI, just like with drugs. And venereal diseases.

I like how everyone assumes that the FMLer didn't research or get referrals for their artist. Even the world's best surgeons occasionally f' up. If the artist was a good guy, he would've comped them and fixed the tat.

I agree with everyone that realizes that even a good tattoo artist can make a mistake occasionally. However it doesn't sound like the OP did entirely too much reasearch on finding a good artist.

Haha... sorry I also hate tattoos, but to each is own

Well it wasn't your fault so it's not a YDI. Everybody has their own opinion and I respect that but generally I think getting tattoos is pretty stupid. Rarely do they look good and it usually just makes the person look ridiculous and like an idiot.

Did you even bother researching artists? YDI because it seems you didn't take time to find an experienced/credible artist.
