Today, I was getting ready for my first date with a boy I really like when my dad insisted on meeting him. My dad is super protective and a cop. He cleaned his gun in front of my date and made it clear he had to be careful with me. My date started to cry when we got to the car. FML

#155, you obviously know nothing about police. Most of their equipment goes home with them. Including the gun, which as someone pointed out they are usually carrying concealed when off duty. Also, it doesn't say if it was his service pistol. It could have been a rifle or a shotgun for all we know. Anyways, your dad is fine. I plan to do the same should I have a daughter. All you people act like he was waving a loaded gun in the kid's face. It was obviously completely disassembled. And yes, it does send a message, a pretty good one I would say. The kid shouldn't have had a problem with it, especially if he planned on treating you like a lady in the first place.
