whoa #124...calm down a little?? for all those saying its fake or came from twilight or from that rodney atkins song, where i live this is normal for all dads. my dad did it when i went to prom, my best friends' dads did it for them too. it's all part of being a father, and i know when i have a daughter i'm sure my husband will do the same thing. OP at the time it seems real embarrassing and you must hate your dad, but later down the road you'll look back on this and laugh your ass off one day.

honestly, if that happened to me, I would probably laugh, just because it's such a cliche. and, I mean, he's obviously not actually going to shoot me. also, if i knew my date's dad was a cop, I'd probably research guns in case he pulled something like that. he takes it out: "oh, is that a ______? how's the trigger guard on that thing? i heard that the kick makes it really ineffective unless you modify it with a _____."
