You did the right thing
The good news is at least you didn't call 911. That would have been really embarrassing.
Hey at least you grabbed your dog! Good safety skills too! On the flip side though YDI remember you can smell carbon-monoxide... Someone needs to go back and retake chemistry lol. Dont forget the steps if you cant smell it and you dont see any smoke check the batteries. And you're supposed to change the batteries every 4 to 6 months so things like this dont happen. Oh well life lesson learned good job for keeping your dog safe and glad everything was ok lol.
Actually, the major reason we have CO alarms is cause Carbon Monoxide is odorless, tasteless, and colorless.
You don't always smell carbon monoxide. It's always better to err on the side of caution.
3 long beeps means get out. 1 beep at intervals means replace the batteries. Says it right on the detector..
tf was your mom gonna do about the carbon monoxide?
Not go into the house and die.
My stupid Idea was to unplug it when that happened to me... You did the right thing...
You should've called 911, not your mom. Even if it was a mistake, that's what the 911 hotline is for..
It was good to be safe. When mine started beeping last year I ended up calling the fire dept. cuz it wouldn't silence. They ended up coming over with the fire truck checked the house and ended up telling me the same thing. At least they were really nice about it. lol
It being a carbon monoxide detector, I would have just opened all the windows to get some oxygen into the house, then checked the batteries. If it was actually going off legitimately then I would call gas company or whomever to come fix whatever leak, and take the dog to a safe place or wait outside. Wouldn't panic or wait outside for ages though...
why wasn't that the first thing you checked, it wasn't a fire so you had the time
he didnt have the time actually. if he wasted time checking the battery he couldve passed out from carbon monoxide poisoning if it was real.

its best to be safe than sorry
For me, I'm the exact opposite. If my detector starts beeping, I'll replace the batteries first before doing anything else. That might be the death of me one day. I also bought detectors that say "Fire" or "carbon monoxide" instead of just beeping, so I actually know when the detector's actually trying to save my life.
