Today, I was in science class studying dead insects for biology. After packing away the jars, I noticed a red-back spider on the bench. Thinking it was missing from a jar, I picked it up. It wasn't missing. It was alive. FML

Also this is Australia. AKA the Land of Everything Trying To Kill You. I assume the spider is venomous.

If you were studying insects, why would you pick up a spider? Spiders are arachnids, not insects...

Oh no , I stole her knowledge. SHAME ON ME! I'm a Biology major, (graduating with a B.S next year) I think I would know by now that spiders aren't insects. I didn't even read her comment before posting mine.

Maybe OP misexplained, and there WERE spiders in the jar. That would explain the point of the biology class since in Australia spiders are highly dangerous, and it was a prevention class. And anyway, insects and arachnids, I mean c'mon give her a break that's a decently comprehensible mistake. ... But wtf was a red-back doing in a class, that's the real problem.

Ugh, terrifying. I once had a bee land right on the indentation on my neck. I thought "I don't remember wearing a necklace today." and thinking it was a pendant picked it up and looked at it. After I saw what it was I froze for a second, then threw it and ran.:)
