Today, I was in science class studying dead insects for biology. After packing away the jars, I noticed a red-back spider on the bench. Thinking it was missing from a jar, I picked it up. It wasn't missing. It was alive. FML

I would imagine it wouldn't be dead because a spider is an arachnid. I'm terribly afraid of spiders though. I would have fuhreaked out!

but if you were studying insects why would you assume it's from the jar? spiders arent insects

Correct me if I'm wrong but main difference between a live spider and dead spider would be that it's legs weren't curled under it's body?! Unless it was a pinned specimen (in which there would be no need for you to pick it up) I cannot see how a dead spider could look lifelike? :S
