Your instinct is correct, that should be a deal-breaker. Usually, it's three strikes and you're out, but such a douche move is like hitting into a triple play with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth.

If the BF is 15 and the OP is 35 then I can understand this. If not then I'm afraid this will not stop until the BF chooses to tell his mother to back off. OP can either dump him or take it and stick around until it becomes too much for the BF and he tells mother to stay away. Perhaps encourage this thought by only allowing things to "progress" when you have had some time alone together - it's understandable if mummy kills the romantic mood. I don't believe there's a short-term fix for this one. OP will inevitably lose any showdown.

There IS a solution to this. Set up 2 situations. Do something that includes both folks, then go out with the partner for something more romantic afterwards. There are absloutely factors we don't know here, the recent loss of a spouse,etc, however that doesn't mean that the primary couple are totally obligated to give up their entire evening together.
