Today, I was looking for a parking spot and finally found one. Trying to figure out if the spot was legal, I asked a cop that had pulled up. He said it was fine. I came back 3 hours later to a parking ticket. FML

had that same thing happen to me. two cops on two separate occasions told me it was ok to park there, even the sign said that you get a fine only if you park north of the sign. I was south of it. I came out of the building as the cop was writing me a ticket. I asked him why he was doing that if he had told me it was ok and the sign backed me up too and he said "its life". after that he called me baby and started to treat me like an idiot because I have a foreign accent. Needless to say I reported his ass, turns out more people had the same problem with him

1. Why do people keep saying 'he wanted your money'? If you get a ticket, the cop doesn't keep the money. If he does, it's fraud whilst in public office and sounds like the kind of thing you could inexplicably get 20 years hard labour for in the US (like 'interfering with the post' or whatever, which I think is where you touch parcels/lick envelopes inappropriately though I'm not completely sure). 2. Anyone in the World knows you park your car at your own risk. There are people who will try to take advantage of that. Call it a life-lesson... 3. At least you don't live in Iraq. You park your car in the wrong place there and you're liable to get blown up by an Apache Gunship/'warning shot'. Happy Monday everyone.

what does ydi mean???btw that cop must have been A real dousche bag

He must have meant he was going to give you a fine, not that it was fine.

did he say 'it was fine' or 'you'll get a fine'?

Jus goes to show ya... Yu can't trust popo no more... ( like yu really could most of the time?)...

It wasn't the cop, it'd be entrapment. If you schedule a court date instead of paying, you'll probably get off, especially given your argument. If you know the officer's name it would be a super plus but either way, the worst that would happen is you have to actually pay your parking ticket :)
