Today, I was reading a picture storybook to a kindergarten kid. She could pronounce more words than me, and corrected me. I'm about triple her age. FML

a picture story book?! most of them use three to six letter words...time for school!

So...you're 15-18? And can't read a picture book. Yup, sounds like good ol' American education. Except in Australia? *sigh*

Working a mundane 9-5 and being out of school for so long makes me feel like I'm not getting any smarter and my memory isn't great so I can relate more or less. I agree with the suggestions to read and maybe do some activities that challenge your brain. It helps.

Hooked on phonics didn't work for you apparently.

Please tell me this is because English is not you're first language

Is it yours? If so, you are living proof that people can make mistakes even with their own native language.

The irony. Pray tell, what does it mean when English is not you are first language?

English is my first language, but I don't think it was for the kindergarten kid...

We can all improve: no matter when or where we start. Take this as your cue---

"Pheno...phena..." 6 year old "it's phenomena." Rolls eyes*

Jeff Foxworthy called. He wants you to join his new TV show: "Are You Smarter Than A Kindergartner?"
