That sucks man. But again with the comma splices. It should either be, "...job I really wanted. They said..." or "...job I really wanted because they said..." Not "...job I really wanted, they said..." Sorry but just sayin'.

You don't say what the job you wanted was. If it was a managerial position or something, implementing the system probably wouldn't qualify you as a manager.

everyone saying to attack the system with a virus, that's pretty much just as illegal/wrong as what the company did... hackers get heavy penalties

Obviously, you have the experience, they were just trying to be polite. They didn't want to tell you to your face that you are an awful person and working with you would be like having red-hot pokers shoved up their asses. Aren't you glad I translated that for you?
