Insensitive teacher is insensitive.
Overused saying is… well, you get it.
Man, FML is tough to please nowadays. Oh well.
@69, you have to have the touch. Apparently only something I have in certain chains as well. And you are the chosen one, your number is 69.
It's not the crowd, it's the material. Good thing this anecdote wasn't worthy of a "shitty" pun. No pun intended, seriously.
@86, I've seen some really good comments with a good amount of downvotes but then when someone else says something like "This comment is great why is it getting downvoted?" both the comment and reply get upvoted. I think most people on FML are sheep so if a comment is already getting downvotes they are much more likely to downvote the comment regardless of if its good or not.
I'd say it's more an aspect of human nature. People tend to mimic the people around them, in an attempt to fit in as seamlessly as possible. It's instinct, enough to happen even when the "crowd" is anonymous and not physically present. That and some people actually do change their minds when a new viewpoint is presented that they find themselves agreeing with more. Most people don't put that much thought into things like FML comments and voting - and why should they?
Schools is out already... Summer school??? That sucks
Some people post FMLs from thins that happened a while ago, it's just a role that you have to say "today" at the beginning of your FML
They could also be from somewhere that has year round school. Or somewhere where their school year starts this time of year.
cali has lots of yr round schools
Also, FMLs sometimes get submitted when they are relevant, and just don't get through "the machine" until they are no longer relevant.
Go to your school's equivalent of Disability resource services. get your need for hearing aids documented (if it isn't already) and have them get in contact with your teachers. If they try to say anything again, go to the superintendent and demand that they put a stop to it. So long as you have an IEP you are so far within your rights you can probably even sue for discrimination. (I'm not saying to sue, just that IEPs are so necessary).
IEPs are not necessary for this. It's a plainly reasonable accommodation under ADA and they're exposed to lawsuits even without an IEP.
they don'nt even look similar
I wear hearing aids too. I once had a teacher ask something similar. So, I pulled them out and showed her. Then she realized I really am deaf. Of course that was back when hearing aids were the size of a book. That may have been my skewed childhood perception of it though, lol.
Did they not believe you when you told them? I'm assuming you told whoever sent you to the office they were your hearing aids and they didn't believe you.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the people who are supposed to teach your kids.
The person* who is supposed to be teaching your kids. Sadly there are others like this person, but at the same time, such a sweeping generalization is unfair to the good teachers and displays the same level of ignorance as the teacher in this FML.
Well that's screwed up. Hopefully the Principal is a lot brighter than your teacher.
Normally I would say fight this one on your own but it sounds like you need to get the Special Education coordinator for your district involved. They'll set your teacher straight

how can they not tell the difference?
What did the principle say? Talk to your teacher about her behaviour, and if she does anything like this again, report her.
