Today, I was standing in the gas station, pulling out my wallet to pay the $100 of gas I just filled my car with. I opened my wallet and found a note saying "borrowed money for food". FML

I always pay before i pump. Better safe than sorry.

I'm sorry but gas is actually cheaper in the U.S. than anywhere else. I live in VA where there is rampant gas theft. And I live in a SMALL city. Are you trying to tell me in foreign countries that gas stations aren't insisting you prepay for your gas?! Gas station owners there must be brain dead. Plus you must be retarded to not look in your wallet b4 you get gas. Prepay or not.

I don't believe for one second that places with higher crime rates have more "pump and run" incidents. I live in a SMALL city in southwest virginia. Rural Area. Ppl take advantage of the fact that we don't have the amount of security that larger city gas stations have. Their security cameras actually feed into a private network with remote access. Whereas small town gas station's security cameras still have tape recordings which are largely ineffective in prosecuting offenders in "pump and run" instances.

not really. 17 gallons equals about 63/64 litres. At $1.60NZD for petrol per litre, you're looking at almost exactly $100. No idea what kind of car the OP had, but you don't need a huge truck. BMW 5 series has 18 gallons in the fuel tank.

the comments on this post prove how dumb americans are. 1. they cannot comprehend that other countries let you pump then pay 2. they cannot comprehend that they are lucky at how low their gas prices are and yes it does cost NZ$1.69 per LITRE not gallon 3. they cannot comprehend that yes we do carry cash sometimes 4. they cannot comprehend that just because the gas tank is large the car is not fuel efficient. I have a 1993 Toyota Camry which is quite fuel efficient yet costs over $100 to fill at current petrol prices, maybe it would be cheaper if I could afford a smaller car but I cant because I'm a student NZ is great anyway :):)

We can't comprehend all that? Are you sure? How ignorant of you.

And you're a ******* idiot for assuming all Americans can't comprehend it. Don't call anyone dumb until you get a full lobotomy of your own, #159.

your post proves how many people from other countries are just as arrogant or much more arrogant than many, many americans. Americans do carry cash, a lot, idiot...and we can comprehend that other countries do too. that much for a liter is not much more than we were paying a year back...less than in some areas in america

That sounds exactly like something by brother would do

Oh My ******* God!!! Okay over here IN NEW ZEALAND, we call it GAS or PETROL or FUEL, we carry CASH and NOTES and CARDS, and SOME Gas stations are PREPAY others aren't, and also SOME Gas Stations don't accept cards, YEAH IT"S TRUE, our prices are always changing, and yes it does cost a lot of money for petrol, my parents have the same type of car each, just different years, and yet one costs more to fill up than the other, USA get the **** over yourselves just because New Zealand doesnt pay before they pump doesnt make this FML fake, it happens to people all the time, and if you must know people can carry around $100 in cash, i've done it before, so come down from your little world of 'I live in the USA where whatever we say is the law and truth' and get back to reality, 'oh look the US is the most powerful country in the world' what happened when they wanted to dock their nuclear weapons here? WE KICKED THEM OUT!!! That's right the most powerful country in the WORLD got kicked out of a small almost insignificant country, **** YOU AMERICA!!! And yeah even though my name is thexlovexfromxnz I'm not loving you at all, NZ ROCKS AND I WOULDNT CHANGE IT FOR THE WORLD!

i want to go to nz now... take off my license plates.. fill my car with gas then just take off! thatll teach em for not paying befre pumping

Then you will most likely get pulled over for not having any number plates. And, if you have bothered to read any of the comments you would realise that NOT ALL PETROL STATIONS HAVE YOU PAY AFTER.
