Today, I was supporting my aunt as she gave birth. She was getting tired during the pushing stage, so I tried to encourage her by making a show of pushing as well with each contraction. I got a little too into it and accidentally gave birth to a little turd of my own. FML

It was just my Aunt and the Midwife in the room at the time. I think my Aunt laughing helped her push my cousin out the last little bit. The Midwife was awesome.

Hahahaha this is one of the few FML's that really made me laugh my ass off

I think this just shows how wholeheartedly you were trying to help her.... But just got too into it. I hope you and your family got over the awkwardness.

I cannot say that I didn't laugh. I'm sorry. I also saw the simple comment "Did you name it?" and that set me off on another road entirely. Just use the excuse that a lot of women giving birth will poop themselves (can you blame them? There's a whole big deal going on down there!) and you can say that you didn't want your aunt to feel self conscious about being the only one in the room who pooped. It was actually rather selfless of you :) Hope mommy and baby are doing well, and I hope that you and your bundle of joy are... well, you know.

Well, that's definitely a bundle of joy.

And that's why I don't go into the delivery room.

D'aww! It's a brown baby boy!

Remember next time to pinch, push, breathe.

Why is this getting thumbed down? I've read and heard about this happening during child birth myself. It's just more of the miracle that our bodies!

Probably because it happens more than we know to mums actually giving birth, not so much to their support person.

It is very normal for a woman to open her bowels driving childbirth. They are pushing in exactly the same way as if they are going to the toilet. The baby's head is right up against the bowel, and if there is poop in the pipes, it will come out with the pushing. It's normal and nothing to be ashamed of. As a midwife, it's a wonder all midwives don't end up with a uterine prolapse because it's easy to get caught up in trying to coach a woman to push. I've had an excited father accidentally give birth to a turd baby as well.

Aw, you should go on "I didn't know I was pregnant"
