Today, I was taking a selfie. My grandma saw me, then after smirking to herself, she went and told my parents that I was "doing that sexting thing". They believed her and grounded me, even after I showed that all my photos and sent messages were totally innocent. FML

Today, I briefly left my laptop while I went to use the toilet. When I came back, I found "I" had posted on Facebook, calling my mom a "stupid cunt who should just stay in the kitchen." The only other person home at the time was my grandpa. She didn't believe it, and permanently grounded me. FML

Today, I overheard my grandpa telling my mom he'd found a load of porn in my laptop's browser history, but that he deleted all the "filth" so she wouldn't have to see it. She believed him and I got grounded, much to his amusement. I've never looked up porn on that computer in my life. FML

Today, my grandma posted an embarrassing childhood photo on my school's events page. I told her everyone could see it, and asked if she could take it down. She freaked and commented on it, apologizing for posting it. Now I feel guilty for embarrassing her, and it's still on the page. FML

So it's not morally wrong if I get someone else to take a picture of me during a holiday event or on a vacation even if I don't even know the person, and there's no one else around that I do know, and they might end up stealing my camera? I've also taken pictures of myself inside one of those photo booths. Is that morally wrong too? Am I some hateful, snooty hipster now because I used modern technology to preserve a memory? DO I NEED TO BE BURNED AT THE STAKE??!!

Agreed. People act like selfies are for spoiled idiotic little girls with nothing better to do. I don't take selfies myself because... I dunno, I'm not a big fan of pictures. But literally all a selfie is is to take a picture of yourself. Literally that is it. There is nothing wrong with that, and it is not limited to any one crowd.

occasional selfies are fine. It's the people who take selfies constantly. "Oh look here I am in the mall better get photo evidence." Or "Look I'm eating toast! selfie time" that are annoying

I can't really say it's your fault. I'm not big on selfies but your grandma clearly didn't know what she was talking about. I don't think she even knew what sexting was. Sucks your parents believed her even after you proved her wrong. Next time just keep the selfies away from granny... :)

Maybe it's time to start looking for other things to do than take photos of yourself... or explain to Grandma what exactly you were doing, however difficult that conversation is to have, so next time she sees you do it you won't have to go through this again!

sounds like you need to keep grandma out of the way, just a couple of drops of Visine in her morning coffee will keep her on the toilet with diarrhea for a few hours LMFAO! This is a joke by the way please don't do that to your grandma haha. instead be super nice to her and smile at her a lot, she will figure you're up to something and will drive herself crazy trying to figure it out meanwhile you will be sitting there knowing you're completely innocent yet again. Sorry your parents don't trust you even with proof that sucks.

I don't agree with your username but I don't think just because you chose to vent by choosing that as a user name that YDI. Now if instead of silently writing that as your username you had told her that if you were my child I would have grounded you but venting is something we all do we are human and we can all be ignorant at times. Good luck with your grandma and I hope that you find some common ground with her so that the rest of her visit won't make you completely miserable.
