So... you never exchanged photos? Why would 'she' lie for 4 years? Either it IS a chick, and she's lesbian, but didn't want to scare you away so she lied for 4 years as a guy, and hopes to change your sexuality, OR it is a dude, and he doesn't want to meet.
#153, I've seen girls pretending to be guys on the internet, including one of my friends (jokingly, and not taking it this far of course.) It's easy to find a pic of a hot guy and send it to her, saying that's who he was. It's also easy for a girl to sound like a boy on the phone. And if that crazy girl really wanted to take it this far, she could easily have a video chat in a dark room with a hoodie on, hood up and hair in her face like some cute emo boy and easily look like a boy. I've seen it done before.
You never saw, heard, felt, smelt, or tasted (or in other words, none of your senses could perceive him), yet you loved him and "knew" him...for 4 years? That makes no sense.
Sucks. Mostly because I've got a lot of friends over the net and they're actually very honest people. People like that girl kind of discredit people like my friends. You don't really deserve it, I suppose.
You deserved that, man. Sorry, but that was like..the stupidest thing i've ever read.

Today, somebody lied to me over the internet. FML.
Which means he's a married 48 year old man from New Jersey - or some dude you know from work.
