I live near Chesterfield. lmao
OP, I'm sorry this happened to you. I know it sucks to love someone you can't have, please ignore all the ignorant assholes saying ydi. This happened to a friend of mine, though, but it's also possible that the guy you fell in love with really is there and just... scared, now that there's a possibility of things happening in real life. :( Either way it sucks.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Epic fail.
Isn't it usually old creepy guys trying to be a young boy/girl? not a young girl pretending to be a boy??? regardless, i can understand being fooled, this happened to a friend of mine who met a girl on W.O.W. had the the whole shebang pics, ims and everything. this went on for 3 years, till he finally found out it was a guy getting hormone therapy and sex change and the such.
Maybe he's just not into you, and he's finding a way out of the "relationship". Thing is, though, if you've been talking to that person for 4 years, you could have at least found another way to confirm their existence. Maybe you could've asked for a picture or a contact number or something... Anywho, I hope you get over the pseudo-person and meet a new guy.

Today, somebody lied to me over the internet. FML.
Which means he's a married 48 year old man from New Jersey - or some dude you know from work.
