Today, I was talking to a guy I met online and have known for 4 years. I've fallen in love with him twice, one of those times being currently. He was supposed to visit this summer. I got an email from him saying he's really a 17 year old girl from Chesterfield, MO. FML

Today, somebody lied to me over the internet. FML.

Which means he's a married 48 year old man from New Jersey - or some dude you know from work.

hence, you get the digits, and have a few chats before you believe anything or come to any conclusions....

#3 is right! They could be lying to get out of actually meeting.

Wtf?! Who knows someone online for 4 years and doesn't meet them or even talk to them on the phone? You definitely deserved that. Because you would've asked for a phone number and spoke to the person and if they kept refusing to give it to you or making up lies, than something is up with them obviously. So yea YDI.

"One of those times being currently"?? Seriously? Take some English classes.

Ay carramba! Shitty situation, but that's what you get for meeting over the intenet!

"I really doubt it's very possible to fall in love with someone whose face you've never seen and whose voice you've never heard. Nothing is impossible in the realm of love I guess, but really, not likely. Try to take a step back and look at yourself. What is it that's leading you to look for love from someone who has no physical presence in your life rather than actually looking for it in those around you? Is it "love", whatever that is, or is it just insecurity/loneliness?" You can fall in love with someone you never meet. Online you get the mind of the person without the body. For example I weigh 350lb. Who would ever go out with me? I may be an amazing person but in this world we live appearances are everything.

this is why i am never finding love online. not making that mistake again....

If this is true and you didn't even know their gender, you're lucky that they're just some little girl playing a prank. It could've been some creepy internet predator too, for all you know. I'm not against meeting people through the internet, but seriously =/ ... you've never tried talking to them on the phone or webcam beforehand? :( Or at the very least asked for a few pictures? (Which you have to realise, also carries the possibility of being fake)
