I used to be a feminist until I realised feminism killed chivalry. I'm all for equality, but sometimes feminists go way over the top.
Whomever told you that chivalry is offensive to women is someone with her knickers in a twist. If she can't see past her own inequalities, then whatever you do will be seen as offensive. I'm with the "forget about that dumb biatch"-crowd and just keep being a nice person with the ability to perform random acts of kindness without any motive other than doing something nice just for the sake of doing something nice.
Common courtesy is different from chivalry. Chivalry is patronizing while courtesy is just polite.
Guess that wasn't a *puts on shades* "winning" situation ....but it's just common courtesy to hold a door for someone no matter what gender the person is.
next time just kind of half ass it hold it open untill they are like starting to go through it then just let it swing close then when the ole boss says some shit just be like wut? one day you bitch at me for holding it open the next for not holding it open so i figured id meet you in the middle

If someone's gonna get on your case for holding a door open for them, ignore them. They can piss and moan all they want, it's still the respectful thing to do. I always hold doors open, and will continue to do so. Hell, I expect people to hold the door, just as a courtesy, but that stopped happening a while ago. To stay on topic, if people are going to bitch at you for being polite, then **** 'em.
I would hold the door open for both men and women. It's called common courtesy. Tell them that next time.
It's called manners. Or where your parents as rude as you?

True equality is never equal.
Isn't it just normal to hold the door open for anyone? I'm a female and I hold a door for male, female, older or younger because where I'm from its not an act of chivalry but courtesy.
