Today, I was walking with my boyfriend in the hallway of our school, and once we got to his class, I leaned in for a kiss. Surprising me, he leaned away, and I asked what was wrong. He told me he's glad we're going out, but just doesn't want anyone to know. FML

Listen, I'm a guy who was in your same situation. GET OUT. It's not a relationship, he's just too much of a pussy to "hurt your feelings" by breaking it off himself. The emotional scarring from staying in that kind of relationship lasts a long time the longer you stay in it. So yeah, FYL, but move on for your own sake.

Asshole. Dump him, if you haven't already. If he actually is glad you're going out, it must be just for sex or some such -- otherwise, he'd be fine with other people knowing. Or he's already dating someone else and doesn't want her to find out he's cheating.

That's a pretty hurtful and insensitive thing he did. You might want to talk to him about it first - he might just be confused, or it might just be that he doesn't like kissing in public or something. But if he doesn't want people to know you are dating, then it's highly likely that he's ashamed of you in some way. Even if that 's not the case, it's likely you'll be happier if you can find someone who is as happy for others to know you're dating as you are.
