Today, I was working as a waitress at this pub. It was dead. After 4 hours I had only made 5$ in tips. A friendly couple came in and complimented EVERYTHING down to the freshness of the lemons in their tea. The bill came to $50. They left me a $5 gift card to starbucks. I don't drink coffee. FML

Today, I went into work to waitress on a table of 40 guests. They were my only table for the day and the bill came to over 700 dollars. After they left the busser was cleaning the table and threw out the credit card receipt which had my tip on it. FML

Today, at work, I served a group of three teens. Their tab was $75 and they tipped me nothing. They wrote a thank you on a piece of receipt paper, put it in a glass of water and used a coaster to turn the glass of water upside down on the table, spilling water everywhere. They also stole my pen. FML

Today, while I was working at Starbucks, a customer spilled her drink all over the counter. After I cleaned up her spill and remade the drink (for free), she exclaimed, "Thanks! I should really tip you!" Then she turned around, walked directly past the tip jar, and left the store. FML

Today, I was waitressing for a huge family. Their bill was $750. Excited about the tip, I was shocked to see only $0.50. As they were leaving, I threw the two whole quarters at their heads. Guess who also got fired today. FML

Today, I was the only carhop at work for the last 2 hours. In that time, I waited on about 50 cars. I make server pay so I depend on tips, but none of them tipped me even a penny. I averaged under $3 an hour tonight. FML

Today, while I was working as a waitress, I had to wait on a table of 13 people. I was struggling through it and when they finally left I went by the table to pick up my tip. Instead of a money I got a napkin saying "Here's your tip, don't be a waitress." FML

Today, a customer tried to pay for a $1.55 cup of coffee with a gift card, but he came up a dollar short. He let another customer through while he fumbled in his pocket for money. I later noticed a dollar had disappeared from my tip jar. FML

To be fair, waiters/waitresses don't even make minimum. Last time I checked/had a waitressing job, they make $2.63 an hour. And then you keep what you make in tips to "make up" the rest. To be called ungrateful for wanting to make a living seems ridiculous, no? And tipping in a gift card is just plain rude to begin with.

This is horrendous. A gift card is not a tip. I make $2.13 an hour as a waitress and most servers have to tip out (bartender, host/hostess, busboys). This means that it cost this server money to wait on this table. Plus, to make this even more FML worthy, I bet when she went to starbucks there wasn't even $5 on it.

wow, I have read alot the comments posted, and I'm a waitress and it's a hard job, u try lifting a 20lb tray on ur shoulder, not dropping it, and dealing with rude people who don't know that we live off our tips. and yeh it's our job but really u people are rude!!!
