Oh my goodness, that's terrible. Here's what you do: Go back to the store, go to customer service, ask to speak to the manager, and report her. If the manager is an a-hole, report it to the corporate site. You don't have to mention that she was right. It doesn't matter why you were buying them, she had no right to do that.
Exactly. I work in a supermarket myself and if I would say something like that to a customer, I would be fired on the spot. Even if the customer would call me "a d.ck" for no reason, I just HAVE to wish him a nice day or at least be quiet even if I would want to hit him in the face for that remark. Company policy. "Our customer is our master", as one of Czech proverbs says.
