I think its sweet he did that for her family. Once my daughter threw my son's Spiderman toy on the roof and the guy I was dating climbed on the roof in the rain to get it down. He scored major points. Plus if OP's in-laws are old they probably don't have anyone to do stuff like that for them. They could of at least saved you some smores though, i agree.
