Those things are toxic

You may recognise hydrogen peroxide as that stuff that makes your hair a horrible yellow colour and burns you scalp if left on too long. It's the oxidizing agent which reacts with an organic compound to make it glow. From Wikipedia : "By mixing the peroxide with the phenyl oxalate ester, a chemical reaction takes place, yielding two molecules of phenol and one molecule of peroxyacid ester" So exposure to the skin should cause some irritation, maybe a rash and in rare cases, nausea.
