woow where i come from it's not normal not to pay for a diner at your birthday, they your friends and it's your birthday of course you will pay for it, they will get you presents and you will take them out to dinner, and they will do the same for you. that's what friendship is about!!!
#75 That reasoning goes both ways though, because when someone pays for you dinner on your birthday, it's common courtesy to pay for them on their birthday.
you should have paid for your own meal and left. obviously your friends know what a pushover you are......why don't you grow a pair
assholes
agreed
That sucks. With my friends it really depends on who does the inviting, but for birthdays we almost always pay for the birthday person. We always have the one person in the group that "didn't get paid this week" or "forgot cash but doesn't have enough on their debit card for us to give cash to them and they take care of the whole bill" or a million and one excuses on why they can't pay - after they have ordered their meal and drinks of course. We usually just try to not invite them out. (Not many places in Australia allow you to have separate checks). However a whole group of cheapskates is excessive. I'm sure you paid OP just to keep the peace - and I'm sure you aren't going to dump your friends. Somehow I think you must all be young and maybe you are the only one with rich parents or a job... In that case, next time "forget your wallet!". That said, Happy Birthday
you deserve it for not getting up when they expected you to pay or not already asking for your dinner to be payed for since its your birthday.

I would have said 'its my birthday, so don't look at me' and if they have a problem with it, then I would pay for the meal I ate or my share and then leave. Who needs friends, when they mooch of you, put you on the spot so its embarrassing to say no, and expect you to pay for them on your birthday?
**** that! why would you have paid?!? thats when you laugh in their faces and only put in money for your share if those bitches aren't going to cover your share for YOUR birthday. your friends suck.

I woulda got up and left them there with the check. That's so rude. Get some new friends and don't be such a pushover.
should've said "frick no, I'm not paying."
