Today, I went to go get my driver's license, only to be told that I need a copy of my birth certificate. In order to get the copy of my birth certificate, I need a driver's license or my passport. In order to get a passport, I need a copy of my birth certificate or a drivers license. I have none. FML

Excuse me if I'm wrong, but isn't a drivers license and a regular id considered to be a state license? To obtain either you'll still need the same info. Atleast in my state it's so.

You can just have your parents get your birth certificate. When i switched from Nevada DL to Oregon DL I had to have my Birth Certificate, Nevada Driver's License and a piece of mail delivered in my name to my address in Oregon. :s

Ahhhyea, I had a similar dillema. $120 and 2 weeks later, I have a ID card, and this is in Australia.

ask ur parents.... Your parents are able to get your birth certifcate with there id... My dad got mine.... Good luck

You can get a State ID card with your SSN & student ID. Then you can order ur birth certificate and so on ...

Considering you can order a copy of your birth certificate online it's clear that you haven't done your homework on this one. You'll have to wait for it to arrive but you don't need a license to get a copy of your birth certificate. I just went through this with my husband who moved from another state.

I was in this EXACT situation for months before I figured a way out. I had to get my mom to order my birth certificate from the state dept of vital statistics. She could have just gone to the local office with me though. You can have either parent get it or even a sibling. They just need to have their ID. Good luck, seriously I know how much this sucks.
