Today, I went to go get my driver's license, only to be told that I need a copy of my birth certificate. In order to get the copy of my birth certificate, I need a driver's license or my passport. In order to get a passport, I need a copy of my birth certificate or a drivers license. I have none. FML

Excuse me if I'm wrong, but isn't a drivers license and a regular id considered to be a state license? To obtain either you'll still need the same info. Atleast in my state it's so.

You're dumb. You have to have one of these documents, otherwise you're a foreign person. Maybe you don't exist. I got my birth certificate when I was born along with my SSN. Then I got my license with those and I can get a passport with the documents as well. YDI

You're an idiot. Parents sometimes lose their kids birth certificates. It's not their fault if that happened. YD getting a good backhand.

You need two forms of ID. Your social security card and your insurance card would work, it did for me. Good luck OP.

You can just get a id from the DMV... You. Red a permit anyway before you get your lisence anyway becaus edge driving course needed depending on state but you can just get a id

Wrong. You can get a state ID at the DMV without getting a license. You can use that to get your birth certificate.

Check out the courthouse in the county you were born in. They will have it and give you a new one for a small fee
