Today, I went to the dentist after not being there for 3 years. I was told that I had loads of cavities and that I would need to pay $3,000 for a serious mouth surgery. The reason I hadn't been to the dentist in 3 years: I've been married to a dentist for 3 years that said my teeth were "perfect." FML

WTF ever. dentists lie and say you need all this surgery to get paid! I had 16 cavities once as a teen and did not have effing oral surgery. get a 2nd and 3rd opinion before you waste money and your insurance drop you.

You still need to go. They have the right tools to check on your teeth and gums.

You should really get that surgery before your teeth get any worse. Although, a second opinion wouldn't hurt

this isn't your wifes fault. you're a dumbass for not going.

this is not his fault... abyone that says soa

a dentist told me mum she needed 3 fillings, another dentist told her all she needed was 1 old filling replacing. the same dentist (first one) told my nana she needed her perfectly good dentures replacing when she didn't.

o.O THere is no excuse in having a mouth full of cavities unless you never brushed your teeth. I mean brushing twice a day and flossing once would prevent cavities! You might get one or two but not the whole mouth. YDI here

nope, not true....i floss daily and brush my teeth twice a day and apparently according to my dentist the shape of my teeth is conducive to cavities so it seems like every time i go there they find some type of shallow cavity.....he told me that my dentist from when i was a child should have put a sealant on my teeth to prevent this but didn't.....the only recourse for me is to keep gettin crap filled in and gurgling religiously with act mouthwash

Some dentists will point out every small cavity that your body can just repair for itself if you give it some time and brush daily (but don't scrub hard at it). But those do not need fillings. You should get a second opninion and ask the other dentist to only fill the cavities that are beyond natural healing.

Wait I don't get it...you get cavities and such from not brushing your teeth and stuff, not from not going to the dentist...

But you still should get a cleaning and get stuff checked out. The dentist checks the gums as well. And sometimes cavities could sneak up on you, even with good brushing habits.
