Today, I went to the doctors and was told I would need an inhaler. My mom came back from the pharmacy and told me the copay of $35 dollars was way too expensive, so she is making me use my cat's old inhaler. My mom values my cat's ability to breathe more then my own. FML

Today, I told my mom I'm severely allergic to my cat and that the doctor told me it would be best to get rid of the cat. Somewhat jokingly, I told her it was either me or the cat. She chose the cat. She was serious too. FML

Today, my cat kept sneezing all morning so I took her to the vet. $150 later and the vet says she's fine. I get home and the noise starts up again. My automatic air freshener spray sounds just like my cat sneezing. FML

Today, I spat up blood and had horrible chest pain. My mom still made me go to school, claiming she needed to take the cat to the vet instead of taking me to the doctor. FML

Today, I was nervous about taking my cat to the vet for a UTI, because money’s a little tight. Turns out the antibiotics weren’t that expensive, but he wants at least $1,000 for dental surgery she apparently “needs.” FML

Today, due to the heat, I had a deadly asthma attack. Where was my inhaler? My dad pawned it for beer money. What did my dad do about my attack? Told me to quit being a Drama Queen. I had to go across the street and beg for a ride to the ER from my neighbor. FML

Today, I decided to go thrifting to save some money. Ironically, I ended up having to pay for an emergency trip to the hospital because somebody was too lazy to wash the cat hair off their clothes. I'm severely allergic to cats. FML

Today, I forgot my inhaler. I had an asthma attack and had to go to the ER. The doctors told me it wasn't an asthma attack. It was just a panic attack from worrying about whether I would get an asthma attack. FML

I know at least one person who died from an asthma attack, on his Birthday. But he faked his death, because asthma is a non disease, right?

Yeah, I was following OP until the last line about "valuing the cat's health more than his." The mom is TAKING the cat's inhaler for OP, so obviously she values OP's health more, even if its a bit twistede.

Tell the vet and the doctor immediately. There is no way in hell the type of medicine and dosage calibrated for a small animal are going to help you in an emergency. $35? I'm sure there are other bills to pay, but if you're lungs close up on you there is a good chance you'll die. I've been living with asthma since I was a kid. You want quality medicine on hand. And anyone who claims it's not a serious disease has no idea what they are talking about, to put it politely.

delfinofrank, before you make outlandish comments and assuming they are a 'liberal socialist' who only accepts handouts, you don't know what position the OP is in! The OP could be under 15, 16 and not able to get a job as yet, or even could be older and unable to procure work. So before you make assumptions, consider what position this person could be in, you don't know. And there is nothing wrong with someone who is a liberal socialist or anyone who accepts handouts.
