I know how you feel. I can't even look over the second-floor balcony at school without panicking. (._.) FYL.
ydi for breathing
Wish the trolls are invading the passed few XML's
a fear of heights shouldn't scare you like that. screaming and crying wont put a barrier around the canyon. being afraid of spiders is something i can see putting someone in a panic attack. although chances are slim and many are misinformed, spiders can severely hurt people. however the grand canyon cant hurt you when you stand ten feet away from it. either you were having a very serious panic attack and your family is composed of idiots, or you are a whiny attention *****.
# 60: That's why it's a phobia. Because it's an irrational fear.
That's what I just said. Why are you repeating me?
As someone afraid of heights, let me enlighten you: You cannot control the fear, other than staying away from high places. It is not attentionwhoring. When I get the panic attack, I feel like I'm going to fall, just like a person afraid of spiders may feel that the insect is gonna eat them alive, or whatever.
well to get rid of fears you have to face them
So your life sucks because you unsuccessfully ruined your family's trip? Come on, stop being selfish and suck it up. You should have wanted your family to have a good time. Be realistic. What could they have done to dissipate your fear? Nothing, really, unless there's a psychiatrist in your family. It's unfortunate that you missed out on Grand Canyon due to your fear of heights, but at least your family still got to check it out. Anyway, you could have hiked back yourself if it was that bad. Take matters into your own hand instead of expecting others to (magically) fix it for you. It's not like they didn't care. They just knew there was nothing they could do.
I do believe it, seeing as though I wrote it, and I could care less whether or not you wish to be related to me.
Wow, I have acrophobia but that doesnt sound like how most acrophobics act around heights. I get really pale, sweat, have shortness of breath, and get really quiet, and only panic when i am RIGHT on the edge. I bet your family didnt leave you just sitting on the edge so i bet your an attention *****
I'm so sorry they didn't put a halt on thier vacation for your irrational fear. I really hate heights too but I wouldn't be crying how my family left me after I chickened out.
why has no one asked this,: if youre so freakin scared, why not just get away from the ledge ? you couldnt just go back to like a tourist area and sit on a bench or something? this fml sounds like they glued your butt down with your feet dangling over the edge of the canyon.
Good point (that I thought of too). OP just found out she's afraid of heights. That's no reason the whole family has to waste their whole trip. Whiney of her to complain about them telling her what she missed. What else would they talk about when they got back to her?!??

That's just cruel.
Good money or not, one of them should have been a ******* good parent or sibling and stayed with her while the others moved on. Leaving someone hyperventilating is not safe at all.
