Today, I went to the Grand Canyon with my family. Also today, I found out that I have a crippling fear of heights. My family left me on a ledge hyperventilating and having a mental breakdown, while they hiked for another 2 hours. They won't stop telling me how pretty it was and what I missed. FML

Today, I went to a theme park with my friends. I was excited to ride the rollercoasters, but just as we were about to get on the biggest one, I realized I'd had left my glasses in the car. I can't see shit without them, but I decided to go on the ride anyway. I spent the entire time screaming in terror while my friends laughed, while I couldn't see a thing. FML

Good money or not, one of them should have been a ******* good parent or sibling and stayed with her while the others moved on. Leaving someone hyperventilating is not safe at all.

Sounds like the mom in that happyslip video.

khcampbe - mean comments? I'm pretty sure we're all just evaluating the situation in a logical manner, which, apparently, you are incapable of doing. First of all, you claim that none of us have been to the Grand Canyon. Well, you're wrong there. And secondly, what does that have to do with anything? As if my experience at the Grand Canyon would tell me what it would be like for people who are afraid of heights. You already pointed out that we don't know what it's like to be afraid of heights. Furthermore, as everyone else has been pointing out, anyone with a fear of heights could very easily move away from the ledge. What, did she need her mommy to hold her hand? I think you should really stop trying to interpret other comments as well. What trulyinsane meant by "attention *****" is that she was whiny to her whole family and was just trying to get their attention.

WTF??? I know people are evaluating the situation but there are some others who have just put some plain mean comments. For example "thats not an FML moment thats just you being a self centered pussy and wanting sympathy from random people on the internet STOP BEING A BITCH AND YOU"LL HAVE FRIENDS TO COMFORT YOU" I did not claim that no one has been to the grand canyon, I said that "I am willing to bet a lot of you have never been to the Grand Canyon" so maybe you should learn how to read and interpret. Actually going to the grand canyon is relevant too. It is not like you are at the mall on the third floor and you are scared of heights, it is the Grand Canyon much bigger and probably much scarier for people that are scared of heights. And how do you know what trulyinsane meant by attention *****. You guys like bff's or something cuz I highly doubt it.

Maybe if you were more specific and could convey your thoughts better, people wouldn't think you were targeting everyone with a differing opinion. Again, "a lot of you" is quite vague. Vague enough, actually, to where it adds nothing to your point. I'm willing to bet a "vague number of you" haven't been to the Grand Canyon. Yes, well, it is true that there are people who haven't been to the Grand Canyon. I can see your observations are quite useless. If you want people to understand you, you should try to present your ideas clearly. The mall isn't like the Grand Canyon? Wow, I wish I had such insightful thoughts. And once again, I'll point out that the situation (fearing heights, being at the Grand Canyon) is very fixable, although you wouldn't be one to think of a solution. Yes, trulyinsane and I are bffs. Oh wait, I forgot. Someone like you wouldn't be able to detect sarcasm, right? So let me put it this way. Interpretation is not your strength. Some of us find it easy to understand what others are saying, though (i.e. the context of attention *****).

By the way you wrote this and posted it on FML, you were expecting them to completely stop their trip to one of the most beautiful wonders of the world just to comfort you in an easily fixable situation. Step away from the ledge and let your family enjoy their day. I have arachnophobia, but I don't call my mom to comfort me every time I see a spider in my house.

beat the **** out of your family, tied them up and hang them out to dry over a lege at the grand canyon for 2 hours

congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How could people say that it's the OP's fault? She obviously has a phobia and it's not her fault. She isn't "being a whiny, self-centered pussy". I have trypophobia, emetophobia, and arachnophobia. OP has acrophobia. You learn to live with phobias.

OP's self centered because she's complaining that her family had a good time instead of wasting the day for her. Also, how can someone not notice having a fear of heights? I have one since I broke an arm from climbing trees and I noticed it on trhe next day.

i <3 the grand canyon just came back from a vacation from there

YDI for being a whiny pussy attention *****. If it was that scawy for you then why not just walk off the ledge? But no, you just had to BAWWW because there's a big hole. If I saw you crying your eyes out like a three-year-old whose mummy won't buy her the latest toy I would have pushed you off. Good on your family for continuing on, knowing you're just a gay ****** who yearns for attention.
