Today, I went to the gym to lift weights because my arm muscles are pathetic. In order to use a machine, I needed to pull out a knob to adjust the seat setting. After an embarassing struggle, a worker came over and helped me. Turns out I'm not even strong enough to adjust the seat settings. FML

I would say to buy some of your own free weights, but I doubt you would be strong enough to carry them to the cash register at the sporting goods store.

Perhaps you should've started with some freeweights? (i.e. barbells...)

yeah what a lot of people said here, the knob to move seats usually won't move if you have the weight of the seat mechanism or bar on it, so you need to lift it up in order to slide out the pin.

Yeah, some of them are actually pretty hard to yank out. They are tightly jammed in there and it's difficult t get a grip on them.

You don't have to start out in a gym. Look up exercises online and you will find that you can use alot of household items and still get a workout. Phonebook, chair, etc. Then when you get a little build then take yourself to the gym.

Well at least you're trying to get in better shape :)

Haha. At least you are female and therefore have an excuse. P.S. use freeweights or you're going nowhere

Don't worry so much, we all have to start somewhere. At least you've decided to make an effort.

ok assholes, just cuz your female doesnt mean yu cant lift weights. im not guna make a whole lecture right now but theres a whole shit load that can lift heavier than men.

Don't use the machine, it limits your range of motion. Machines (and gyms in general) are for noobs. Get a set of free weights in your range (they cost about 50 cents per pound), and look up some exercises online.
