Today, I went to the gym to lift weights because my arm muscles are pathetic. In order to use a machine, I needed to pull out a knob to adjust the seat setting. After an embarassing struggle, a worker came over and helped me. Turns out I'm not even strong enough to adjust the seat settings. FML

I would say to buy some of your own free weights, but I doubt you would be strong enough to carry them to the cash register at the sporting goods store.

Perhaps you should've started with some freeweights? (i.e. barbells...)

Your gym should've had someone show you around to give explanation of all the machines, and preferably someone to help you adjust them for your first few times of going there. Be aware that gym machines typically don't have to be inspected, so if you notice a lot of problems with those machines, demand a refund and either work out at home or find another place. Just because you're female - as am I - it doesn't mean you're destined to have a weak upper body. Make sure to eat at least 60 grams of protein a day, if you don't have anything wrong with your kidneys, and rest for a full day at least twice a week, in order to give your muscles time to replenish. Good luck. :)

Its not that your too weak, its that you are just retarded, or you go to a gym with crappy equipment, in which case you should go to another gym

you most likely weren't doing it right and were trying to force the adjustment. Smooth.

those things often get stuck and are tricky to work with, believe me!

Maybe it's enough exercise if you just try to adjust that knob.

well those things sometimes get jammed and you gotta pull a bit to get them out

dont worry man, keep going, be constant, and surely you will be pretty strong in about a year!

Should start with your body weight. It's the fastest way to gain muscle
