Today, I went to the jewelry store to sell my wedding ring after a long and painful divorce. The shop owner took one look at it and called the cops because I tried to sell him a diamond ring that had been stolen from him 3 years ago. My ex-husband left the country a week ago. FML

I hope they realize that you were not the one who stole it, that you had received it as a present, when he proposed to you. I hope you don't have to pay court fees to prove that you truely believed he got it the honest way. As for him? He'll probably get his somehow, some way. The key is for you not to go out of your way to make sure it happens. that will tend to backfire on YOU. That's the last thing you need and he's not worth it.

I hope people are realizing that he could have bought it from someone who stole it... lol. Which isn't great because he'd probably know something shady was going on, but it's still better than him outright stealing diamonds...

That shop owner must have one crazy memory. I wonder how you prove something like that?

#18 rings can have serial numbers, that is it. otherwise he can't./

18- it could have been a really awesome, like, 6 carat ring or something. That would be remembered. OP, I'm sorry you got ripped off, with your ex and your ring. That blows.
