Today, I went to the orthodontist, and found out when I was supposed to get my braces off. His exact words, "You'll get them off around Christmas... but we're not sure what year." FML

I REALLY hope you mean "you deserve to have beautiful teeth".

Unfortunately not everyone is a candidate for Invisalign, otherwise I wouldn't be spending 3 and a half years with my train tracks :/

Gotta wear those rubber bands! Yeah they look rediculous, are a pain to put in your mouth, and hurt when they snap, but apparently they work. I wouldn't know. I never wore mine either and prolonged the process.

I had mine for 6 years OP. I now have a killer smile .. be patient! It'll all be worth it in the end!

He's just trying to keep you on your toes and excited about every Christmas

As someone who had braces much longer than was necessary, the best advice I can give you is WEAR YOUR FREAKING RUBBER BANDS. (If you're required to.)

Also had braces for 4 years.. The results are DEFINITELY worth it.

If you've had them for a while already, and you feel your orthodontist is pushing it, I'd get a second opinion. I was supposed to have braces much longer than I did, but I was moving to the US, and once I told my ortho that, I had them off after 1 year of use. She "sped up the process". Either way, having braces is no fun, but you'll be happy you had them once they're off!

Average time for braces are around 1.5 years...so it should be soon* *I had mine for two years...and have been using my retainers for like six years now...

I don't see why people get braces. is there some other reason besides being for cosmetic purpose? if there is no other purpose then you don't rely need them. everyone has their flaws, but those flaws are apart of you. its ok to want to change them, but you got to wait.

It's to straighten your teeth and keep them healthier.

Seriously, 45? No, people get braces because they just look so cool.

Well I got braces because I had an overbite that was about 1.5 inches out. If I didn't get it fixed it would **** up my jaw. Normally you get them if you have an overbite or a gap in your teeth. Because I had an overbite my jaw would lock up every once in a while and that's not something you want happening everyday.

Underbites and overbites can cause several issues, trouble eating, sleep apnea, etc. braces help rectify those problems
