Today, I witnessed a robbery as a teenager ran out of a Walgreens with stolen goods in his hands. The manager was running after him. Trying to be helpful, I pulled forward to block the thief from getting away. The cops showed up and arrested me for hitting a pedestrian. FML

It's not a robbery. The manager wouldn't be running after someone if they robbed them. Retail theft yes!

The cops were probably doing their "due diligence" in case the guy sued. Most likely they wont file any charges. Note that whenever a vehicle/pedestrian interaction occurs (with the pedestrian on the losing side), the vehicle driver is assumed to be responsible until an investigation rules otherwise. I'm not a lawyer, but I've slept with one at a Days Inn

Interesting, I was under the impression that Walgreens employees were not allow to chase after shoplifters. But as much as I hate to say it, the cops have a point. If it had been an armed robbery then you might have been justified for using your car to stop them but not for shoplifting.

What is it with Florida and Walgreens? The one by my house always has something weird going on. In the course of one visit of waiting for a script to get filled, there was a shoplifting event, a customer walking in on two guys hooking up in the bathroom and a guy running around snapping pictures up women's dresses with his phone when they bent over to get something. There was also a nut funny incident of a couple fighting in a car, pulling over to that parking lot and the man pulling a murder suicide. I think it's time to find a new pharmacy.

Florida is a bucket of crazy.

It really is. When I moved down here I started watching the news for a laugh.

Never try to stop a robbery. It may seem cool to be heroic, but it's just a bad idea. You could have gotten hurt. In all of the retail places I've worked at, they tell you to just let it happen, but to try and memorize as many details as you can about the robber so that you can give an accurate description to the police.

On my sister's first day at work, they had an armed robber come in to the donut shop she was working in. A coworker beat the guy senseless with a broom. She still laughs about it. Not many people can bring a broom to a gun fight and win. But that guy was lucky that he didn't get himself or any co workers killed. The robber was caught off guard by the guy fighting back and froze. It could have so easily went the other way.

Killing someone because they raped you? I'd be pretty darn tempted.

Why did you get involved? Especially in your car? You deserved it! It's shoplifting not a robbery & they would've looked at the camera footage & arrested him later! A crook can break his leg breaking into your house, sue you & win! It's ridiculous but true!

Hopefully the manager saw what happened and stuck up for you!
